Two children were hospitalized following separate near-drowning incidents just 15 minutes apart on Sunday.

The boy was transported in critical condition to an area hospital.

At 4 p.m., paramedics received a call about a 7-year-old boy who had been pulled unconscious from waters off Sand Island Parkway.

The boy apparently been swimming in the area when he experienced difficulty, according to an EMS report.

Paramedics performed CPR, after which the boy resumed breathing his own. He was transported to a local trauma center for further treatment.
