A man in his 20s was critically injured Tuesday morning after his motorcycle slammed into a stopped pickup truck in Wahiawa.

Police Lt. Carlene Lau said speed appears to be a factor, and that the roadway was dark and wet.

The accident occurred at about 6:05 a.m. near the McNair Gate at Schofield Barracks.

The motorcyclist was headed north on Wilikina Drive near the gate when he lost control and it slid into the back of a stopped Toyota Tacoma.

The pickup truck was pushed into the back of a car that was stopped in front of it, police said.

The motorcyclist was taken in critical condition to a hospital. No one else was injured, police said.

A northbound lane on Wilikina Drive was contraflowed as police investigated and cleared the scene.
