Lava front oozes 20 yards closer to Highway 130
PAHOA, HAWAII >> Lava continues to ooze downslope near Pahoa, advancing 20 yards since Sunday afternoon.
The front of the leading edge remains about 0.6 miles upslope of Highway 130 and Pahoa Village Road intersection and approximately 680 yards from the Pahoa Market Place complex, Hawaii County Civil Defense said Monday.
The flow front, which was stalled for several days, has moved about 45 yards during the past few days at a sluggish pace.
Meanwhile, surface breakouts and activity along both margins continue upslope from the front, but do not pose an immediate threat, county officials said.
Smoke and vog were light to moderate Monday morning, with light, variable winds allowing the particulates to settle over an area from Puna to Hilo.
Residents who have respiratory problems should take necessary precautions and remain indoors, county officials said.

Several businesses in the Pahoa Market Place complex closed last week when the lava was projected to hit the area on Christmas Eve. Since then, a grocery store, gas station, Longs Drugs and several other businesses shut their doors as a precautionary measure.
