Coast Guard assists Maui snorkel boat with over 50 aboard
A snorkel boat with 52 passengers and three crew members experienced problems with its motor and began taking on water off of Maalaea Harbor on Maui.
County authorities said the boat was escorted back to the harbor withiout incident after the Coast Guard provided assistance removing the water.
The boat, Mahana Naia, was located about a mile off shore and on its way back to the harbor following a snorkel trip. The incident was reported at 11:44 a.m. Wednesday.
No injuries were reported.
