Second pedestrian injured in separate Friday accident

Police blocked traffic on Nimitz Highway in both directions around Kalihi St. as they investigate the scene of a pedestrian accident.

Two people were injured, one critically, in separate pedestrian-related traffic incidents on Friday evening.

At about 7:45 p.m., a 33-year-old man was seriously injured when he was struck by a bus on Farrington Highway near Jade Street in Makaha.

The man was transported to a trauma center in serious condition.

Less than 10 minutes later, a 45-year-old woman was struck by a car on Kalihi Street near North Nimitz Highway.

She was transported in critical condition to a trauma center.

Neither person was in a crosswalk when they were hit, according to Emergency Medical Services reports.
