Woman dies after struck by car on Nimitz Highway
A woman died of her injuries after she was struck by an SUV Friday night while jaywalking on North Nimitz Highway, police said.
The woman was walking makai against a light when she was struck by a Jeep Compass driven by a 49-year-old male visitor, police said.
Witnesses told police the woman was not in a crosswalk when she was hit near Kalihi Street at about 7:50 p.m.
Paramedics took the woman, who appeared to be about 45, to the hospital in critical condition, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
Police said the woman died at the Queen’s Medical Center.
She was Oahu’s second traffic fatality in 2015 as compared to zero at this time last year.
