President Barack Obama ventured into Wai­kiki on Friday night, dining at Nobu with friends — the presidential motorcade drawing a crowd of spectators who were kept at bay.

Although the president is on his annual holiday vacation, earlier in the day he signed an executive order imposing fresh sanctions on North Korea. The penalties target the North’s defense industry and spy service in an attempt to punish Pyong­yang for a crippling cyberattack against Sony.

He also took the time to call Senate Demo­cratic leader Harry Reid to wish him a fully and speedy recovery. Reid broke several ribs and facial bones Thursday when a piece of exercise equipment snapped at his Nevada home.

But the president also returned to the Marine base for a round of golf at the Kane­ohe Klipper course with Darrell Harrington and childhood friends Mike Ramos and Bobby Titcomb.
