Fence cut, shed lock broken at prison
Police are investigating a burglary discovered Thursday at the Women’s Community Correctional Center.
Officers responded to the prison at 42-477 Kalanianaole Highway and opened a burglary case, a police spokeswoman said.
Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Toni Schwartz said guards making their rounds at 10:30 a.m. noticed the fence had been cut.
She said the culprit or culprits broke a lock on a metal maintenance shed to take items from inside. She declined to say what was stolen.
Schwartz said inmates are housed in a separate area and that at no time was the public at risk.
