Man kills friend for trying to strangle stepdaughter

LAKEWOOD, Calif. » Authorities are investigating the death of a man who was struck with a stool as he strangled a woman at a Los Angeles-area home.

The Sheriff’s Department says the man was visiting friends in Lakewood shortly before 1 a.m. Monday when the homeowner confronted him. The homeowner claimed the man had acted inappropriately with the homeowner’s 20-year-old stepdaughter two days earlier.

Authorities say the man became angry, forced his way into the stepdaughter’s bedroom and began strangling her.

Other family members tried to stop him and the homeowner hit him twice with a wooden stool.

Authorities say he staggered out of the home, collapsed and was pronounced dead at a hospital. His name wasn’t released.

The homeowner wasn’t arrested but an investigation continues.
