The medical examiner identified the 32-year-old man who died Sunday after falling from a roll-up cargo van in the parking lot of Aloha Stadium as Lauie Auapaau, of Waipahu.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine cause of death.

Police said the driver, a 39-year-old Honolulu man, was traveling north in the parking lot around 4:15 a.m. Auapaau was sitting in the rear of the cargo van with the door open when he fell out and struck the pavement, according to police.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he died.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors at this time, police said.

This is the ninth traffic fatality on Oahu this year compared to six at the same time last year.
