Former UH coaches to speak at seminar
June Jones and Dick Tomey are among the speakers expected at Neuro-Huddle 2015, a daylong event focused on bringing together stakeholders to discuss the issue of brain injuries as it relates to sports.
The event will be held Friday at the Ed Wong Hospitality Room at the Stan Sheriff Center at the University of Hawaii. It is free and open to the public, with speakers and panel discussions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monetary donations are encouraged.
The John Wilbur Legacy Fund is sponsoring the event, with support from Galiher DeRobertis Waxman and the Hawaii Concussion Awareness Management Program.
Wilbur, a former NFL player and UH assistant football coach, was a victim of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) and died in 2013.
