Likelike Highway tunnel, H-1 freeway lanes closed Saturday night
The state Department of Transportation is advising motorists of closures on the Likelike Highway, and the H-1 freeway between Aiea and Waipahu starting Saturday night.
The DOT is closing the Honolulu-bound lanes of the Likelike Highway from 7 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday between the H-3 freeway overpass and Valley View Drive for tunnel cleaning.
Several lanes on the H-1 freeway in the Ewa direction will also be closed from 10 p.m. Saturday until 4:30 a.m. Monday for deck widening and concrete pours between the Kaamilo Street overpass in Aiea and the Waipahu offramp.
The DOT will close three right lanes starting at 10 p.m. Saturday until noon Sunday for the concrete pour. Starting at about noon, the state will reopen one lane, but two lanes will remain closed while the concrete cures.
The weekend lane closures are part of the H-1 Pearl City viaduct deck widening and repair project.
Motorists are advised to drive slowly through the area to provide a safe work zone for construction crews and to minimize negative vibration effects on the concrete during the curing process.
