No room at the emergency rooms?
There’s no doubt the flu is hitting Honolulu hard at the moment, straining ambulance and hospital resources.
Simultaneous construction projects in the emergency departments of three Oahu hospitals certainly can’t have helped the situation. Ambulances were rerouted Monday from Castle Medical Center, Straub Hospital and Wahiawa General Hospital to other facilities.
Greater coordination among hospitals seems necessary, especially when it could affect public health.
Football season soon just a memory
Like baseball fans are doing right now, football fans are about to experience a drought of games to watch, with only a few games left to go before that happens.
The big finale, of course, is the Super Bowl, set for Feb. 1. But before then, there’s the college Senior Bowl today, starting at 11 a.m. on NFLN, and the NFL Pro Bowl on Sunday, starting at 3 p.m. on ESPN — and which, unfortunately, is not being played in Hawaii this year.
Their outcomes will be relatively inconsequential, but, hey, whatever; it’s football!
