Colton Goeas, a Saint Louis School graduate and son of a former National Football League player, is leaving the University of Kansas to join the University of Hawaii football team. 

Goeas redshirted as a freshman in 2013 and was the backup to inside linebacker Ben Heeney this past season. He will redshirt this coming season in accordance with NCAA transfer rules, then have two years to play two UH seasons. 

Leo Goeas, a former UH lineman who played eight seasons in the NFL, said his son’s decision was based on the coaching change at Kansas and a desire to play for the Warriors. 

Colton Goeas is 6 feet 2 and 240 pounds. 

Although he is projected to compete at linebacker, there is a possibility he will be used as a plus-sized running back, similar to how UH graduate Joey Iosefa was used the past three years. 

Goeas rushed for 1,477 yards and 20 touchdowns as a sophomore at Colorado’s Lewis-Palmer High in 2010. He was named to Colorado’s 4-A all-state first team. The next year, he moved to Honolulu, where he played linebacker at Saint Louis for two seasons.
