Hawaii holds Long Beach State in women’s basketball
Senior guard Shawna-Lei Kuehu came off the bench for 15 points and Hawaii hit five critical free throws in the final 39 econds to fend off Long Beach State 72-64 in a Big West women’s basketball game Thursday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Senior forward Shawlina Segovia added 14 points and a career-high 15 rebounds for her first career double-double. Junior guard Destiny King had 12 points, including four of the final five free throws, for the Rainbow Wahine (12-7, 4-2), winners of their last four.
Anna Kim led the 49ers (17-3, 4-2) with 12 points. Long Beach State has now lost two in a row after winning 15 straight.
