Motorist crashes car into Waipahu plaza shop

A 60-year-old man crashed his car into a store wall at Waipahu Shopping Plaza on Monday afternoon.

The car jumped a curb on Farrington Highway, crossed a parking lot and jumped another curb, crashing into the wall housing TCA Ecigs & Vapor, breaking glass windows, an employee said.

The motorist was listed in serious condition after the 12:20 p.m. crash and taken to an area hospital, according to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.

The employee said the motorist suffered a head cut as able to get out of the vehicle and sit on the curb until an ambulance picked him up.

Noting that the motorist was not a customer, the employee said it was unclear why the man drove the way he did.

The store, which sells electronic cigarettes and vapor products, continued operating and the broken windows were boarded, the employee said.
