RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. >> President Barack Obama spent his President’s Day holiday golfing with Hawaii friends on a private California course owned by the billionaire owner of the island of Lanai
Obama’s group returned to the Porcupine Creek golf course in Rancho Mirage, California, on Monday. It’s also where they played on Sunday.
The course is owned by Larry Ellison, the co-founder of the Oracle software company.
Ellison ranks third on the latest Forbes list of the 400 richest Americans, with a net worth of $50 billion.
The White House said Obama’s golfing group included three childhood friends from Hawaii — Bobby Titcomb, Mike Ramos and Greg Orme — who are regular golf companions when the president is on the West Coast.
Obama is spending the holiday weekend in Southern California without his wife and daughters.
He returned to Washington Monday night.
