The city is starting a major road construction project along Kapahulu Avenue Tuesday, which will close lanes on the busy roadway through March.

The city is building new bus pads, which will require 24-hour lane closures, and will be repaving the road in March.

The repaving work will take place at night to minimize the traffic impact.

However, the city is encouraging drivers to avoid Kapahulu Avenue, if possible.  Those who use Kapahulu Avenue should anticipate delays and allow extra travel time while driving through the construction areas.
