A collision between a sports utility vehicle and moped in the Punchbowl area sent a 37-year-old man to the hospital with critical injuries, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.

Police said the moped, traveling south of Puowaina Drive collided with the SUV at about 6:30 a.m.

Paramedics treated and took the moped driver to the hospital in critical condition.

He was not wearing a helmet, police said.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.

Police were trying to determine if a street light was working at the time of the crash.
