Academy of Art women edge UH Hilo
Alexa Jacobs scored 15 points and McKenzie Mangino added 14, but Hawaii Hilo’s women’s basketball team lost to the Academy of Art 59-55 on Tuesday in Hilo.
Trailing throughout, the Vulcans cut the Urban Knights’ lead to three with about a minute left, but got no closer.
Hawaii Hilo dropped to 8-14, 7-11 while Academy of Art improved to 17-9, 12-6.
Chaminade golfers finish 15th
The Chaminade men’s golf team finished 15th out of 15 teams at the Coyote Classic, hosted by Cal State San Bernardino at Arrowhead Country Club.
The Silverswords shot a team total of 958, led by freshman R.J. Garczynski’s 23-over 233, which was good for 56th place.
Other golfers included Jarin Harada, who posted a 235, Justin Taparra with a 243 and Lucas Park, who shot a 245.
Cal State Chico took the team title at 24-over 864. Kevan Eubank of Cal Baptist was medalist at 2-under 208.
UH Hilo 12th at St. Edward’s Invitational
Hawaii Hilo’s women’s golf team finished in last place out of 12 teams at the St. Edward’s Invitational in Austin, Texas on Tuesday.
Shannon Abarra shot 170 over two rounds and finished tied for 36th place. Andi Igawa shot a 174, Erin Costes a 178 and Mariah Paiste with 182. The team combined for a score of 704.
Indianapolis won the team title at 606.
