Lifeguards recovered a body of a man in waters off Salt Pond Beach in Eleele on Kauai Tuesday.
The identity of the man, described to be in his 30s, has yet to be released. He has no known address but police said he camped near the beach, according to a news release by the Kauai Police Department.
At about 1 p.m., a snorkeler notified lifeguards of a body discovered about 75 yards off shore.
A lifeguard recovered the body. Police said he was presumed dead at the scene and transported to Wilcox Hospital, where he was formally pronounced dead.
An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted later this week to determine the cause of death.
