In a 22-day span, the Rainbow Warriors will play road games against three traditional football powers — Ohio State on Sept. 12, Wisconsin on Sept. 26 and Boise State on Oct. 3.
Six of the 13 regular-season games will be on the road. There are two back-to-back road games — Wisconsin/Boise State and New Mexico/Nevada.
But four of the final five games will be played at Aloha Stadium, including games against Fresno State (Nov. 14), San Jose State (Nov. 21) and Louisiana-Monroe (Nov. 28) to close the season.
There might be tweaks to the schedule if ESPN or CBS Sports opts to televise a UH game.
UH had planned the nonconference games in advance, with the MWC announcing the league schedule on Monday.
The NCAA actually allotted a 14-week window to play games. But MWC teams do not schedule games on Dec. 5, when the league championship game will be played.
The Hawaii exemption enables the Warriors to play a 13th regular-season game.
This is Norm Chow’s fourth UH season as head coach, and the first in which none of his players played a game during Greg McMackin’s tenure.
