Waianae Police Station artwork to be commissioned

Honolulu’s Commission on Culture and the Arts is seeking artwork to adorn to the Waianae Police Station.

The commission wants artwork that tells a story of the Waianae area and enhances the exterior of the building. The budget for the project is $70,000 and the deadline to submit a proposal is Aug. 7.

The artwork area is 65 feet wide by 5 feet high, between the first and second floors on the building’s east side. The artwork may be a fresco, frieze, mosaic, mural, sculpture or other wall-mounted work that’s permanently installed and made of durable material.

A new police station is being built on the site of the old police station on Farrington Highway.
