Shooting classified as suicide
A shooting death in Salt Lake initially investigated as a possible homicide has been reclassified as a suicide after an autopsy.
The medical examiner determined that 72-year-old Young Nam died of a gunshot wound to the torso Friday and classified the death as a suicide.
Nam was discovered at his Ala Leleu Street residence at about 6 a.m. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Drowning victim identified
A man who drowned Thursday after getting into trouble in the water off Turtle Beach in Makaha was identified Tuesday as Wayne Fleming.
The city Medical Examiner’s Office said the victim, 55, was homeless, and reported the cause of death as drowning.
Construction worker injured
A 34-year-old construction worker was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by the bucket of a miniature excavator, according to Emergency Medical Services.
The man was taken in serious condition to a hospital from a work site at Manuwai Street and Kapolei Parkway, EMS said. The accident was reported at 12:28 p.m.
