Big Isle prison locked down after inmate refuses to go into dorm
Kulani Correctional Facility on Hawaii island went into lockdown Friday after an inmate refused to go into his dorm, a Department of Public Safety spokeswoman said.
After the incident happened about 6:50 p.m., other inmates came out to see what was happening, DPS said, and staff immediately implemented crisis response procedures to end the situation.
The inmates were sent back to their dorms and a lockdown was initiated. All inmates were accounted for, and no injuries were reported, DPS said.
Visitation was to be canceled for Saturday.
