Kylie Huerta scored 24 points and Veanne Navarro added 15 as Hawaii Pacific held off California Baptist, 74-73, to win the PacWest women’s basketball tournament title on Saturday in Irvine, Calif.
Morganne Comstock added 12 points for the Sharks (25-4), who earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament with the win. Comstock blocked a 3-point attempt by the Lancers (25-6) with 4 seconds left and Cassidy Mihalko missed a 3 with 2 seconds remaining.
The NCAA bracket will be announced on Sunday afternoon. HPU made the tournament in 2010 where it lost to Seattle Pacific in the West Regional first round.
