Burglars hit Nimitz cycle shop again
Thieves shattered a large glass window to break into a motorcycle dealership early Friday morning and steal at least two dirt bikes valued at $8,000 each.
Police said the theft happened at 2:39 a.m. at the South Seas Cycle Exchange on Nimitz Highway.
The incident marks the second time in a week that the motorcycle dealership near the airport has been burglarized, said Mark Ely, South Seas Cycle Exchange sales manager.
Ely said he still hasn’t completed an inventory and that two more bikes might have been stolen from the store at 3149 N. Nimitz Highway. He said that four bikes were taken in another burglary early Sunday morning.
Ely said anyone with information can call the bike shop at 836-1144.
Attempted-murder charge fails to stick
City prosectors have declined to pursue an attempted-murder charge involving a 39-year-old man from Washington state because the suspect said he was defending himself.
The dispute at a Waikiki hotel Tuesday sent a 38-year-old man to the hospital in serious condition with multiple stab wounds.
The evidence supports the suspect’s statement that he was defending himself, the prosecutor’s office said.
The incident occurred at the Waikiki Sands Resort on Nohonani Street.
Officers initially arrested the suspect, who listed a Puyallup, Wash., address, on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder. He is no longer in police custody.
