Ward to host first Courtyard Brunch
Beginning April 12, Ward Village will host a monthly Courtyard Brunch with dishes incorporating farm-to-table ingredients prepared by local chefs.
The debut brunch will be themed "Women Working for Ward" and will feature female chefs and farmers including Michelle Karr-Ueoka of MW Restaurant; Jayme Vaniew of Morimoto Waikiki; Gida Snyder of Naked Cow Dairy; Jill Nordby and Jamie Sexton, co-owners of Holoholo General Store; and others.
The event in the Ward Village Information Center Courtyard, formerly called the IBM Building, will feature entertainment by DJ Anit, contemporary breakfast cocktails and a farmers market.
Tickets for the 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. brunch are $20. Proceeds will go to local nonprofits via the Ward Village Foundation. Reserve tickets at wardvillageshops.com.
Buy a lily, support Easter Seals Hawaii
While shopping for groceries at Foodland or Sack N Save, pick up a lily plant to support Easter Seals Hawaii.
The annual "Lilies for Abilities" fundraiser gives $1 to Easter Seals for each $14.99 plant purchased through Easter Sunday.
The lilies are provided by Howard’s Nurseries in Kula, Maui.
The nursery’s owner, Howard Takashita, was the first Maui child to be diagnosed with polio. By supplying the plants, Takashita is honoring the organization that helped him and his family years ago.
