HPU baseball drops pair to Point Loma
Point Loma used a walk-off single in the second game to sweep Hawaii Pacific’s baseball team Thursday in San Diego.
Ryan Garcia’s two-out hit up the middle scored Trey Hunt in the ninth inning to give the Sea Lions a 2-1 victory.
The Sharks’ Brandon Van Stone allowed one run on eight hits over seven innings and Ryan Torres-Torioka had a game-tying RBI single in the seventh.
In the first game, Point Loma scored four runs in the fourth and three in the fifth of a 7-1 victory.
HPU’s Jordan Deponte pitched four scoreless innings of relief. The Sea Lions, who have won 13 games in a row, improved to 26-7 overall and 14-4 in the PacWest. The Sharks dropped to 12-15 and 9-13.

In the second game, the Vulcans (6-23, 4-18 PacWest) led 8-6 entering the bottom of the ninth inning.
