Man, 56, dies after being pulled from ocean off Heeia
A 56-year-old man died Sunday after being pulled from waters off the Heeia Boat Ramp.
According to Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. David Jenkins, a private boat retrieved the man and brought him to the pier.
CPR was being administered when HFD personnel arrived at 4:26 p.m.
Paramedics transferred the man in extremely critical condition to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Earlier, ocean safety personnel assisted a 25-year-old man who was unable to come ashore on his own due to rough surf in the Spitting Caves area of Portlock.
Lifeguards used a JetSki to bring the exhausted swimmer back to shore.
The incident occurred just before 2 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
