A major repaving project from Kalihi to Alewa Heights begins Monday, the city announced Thursday.
The $8.6 million contract calls for cold planing, crack sealing, asphalt berm installation, reconstruction and resurfacing of asphalt roads, as well as tree and utility adjustment, and installation of permanent pavement markings and vehicle loop sensors.
The project will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays. On-street parking will be prohibited and no-parking and tow-away signs will be posted at least 48 hours in advance.
The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, the city said
Motorists are advised to anticipate delays, avoid unnecessary travel through the area or take alternate routes.
Road and Highway Builders LLC, contractor for the project, is responsible for coordinating local traffic. Call the company at 591-9401 or construction manager AECOM at 366-2588 with concerns.
The project is part of Mayor Kirk Caldwell’s plan to pave 1,500 lane miles of substandard city roads in five years.
