Thousands rally at Iolani Palace

Demonstrators turned out en masse Sunday for a rally on the lawn of Iolani Palace in support of the “protectors” at Mauna Kea and to raise awareness of the Thirty Meter Telescope project there. Some of those gathered took their protest to the street at one point, stopping traffic on South King.

Dozens of rally supporters took to the S. King St. roadway at one point in the rally, stopping all lanes of traffic in their effort to garner support for their cause. Hundreds of people turned out for the gathering on the lawn of Iolani Palace by a coalition of groups to rally support for their cause and awareness of the Thirty Meter Telescope project atop Mauna Kea.
