A woman was injured Tuesday after falling about 15 feet onto rocks from a trail leading to the Hana lighthouse on Maui.

Maui officials said firefighters responded to the incident at about 12:30 p.m. and found a 34-year-old woman had fallen onto rocks near the edge of the water. She was conscious but had head injuries.

She had been hiking with two friends when she slipped and fell, officials said. She was treated by paramedics then taken to the Hana Ball Park, where she was flown by medevac helicopter to Maui Memorial Medical Center in stable condition.

The woman is on Maui with a group from out-of-state living on the island temporarily for work.
