UH women’s golf finishes second
The University of Hawaii women’s golf team finished in second place at the 2015 Big West Conference championship on Tuesday in Davis, Calif. Hawaii shot a three-round score of 887, a program record. It was also the program’s highest finish since 2010, when it took second place at the Western Athletic Conference championship.
Raquel Ek finished second overall, completing her three rounds with a 3-under 213. The sophomore from San Diego finished five strokes behind champion Andrea Wong of UC Davis (208).
Passi joins Chaminade volleyball team
Former Hawaii outside hitter Keani Passi will play her final year of college volleyball for Chaminade.
Passi, a two-time All-American and national junior college player of the year in 2012, is one of a trio who will play for Silverswords coach Kahala Kabalis Hoke this fall, the school announced Tuesday. The others are Californians Styler Curry, a setter from Westlake High, and Daisia LeBrie, a middle blocker from Norco High.
Passi redshirted for the Rainbow Wahine in 2013 and played sparingly in 18 matches last season before deciding to leave the program in late November.
Chaminade men’s golf in ninth
After two rounds, the Chaminade men’s golf team sits in ninth place at the 2015 Pacific West Conference men’s golf championship in St. George, Utah.
The Silverswords shot a second-round 27-over-par 315 on Tuesday for a two round total of 55-over 631. Dominican is the overall team leader at even-par 576.
Individually, Jarin Harada is at 2-over-par 146 after his 1-over 73 in round two. The Maryknoll alum sits in ninth place, five shots behind the leader.
The PacWest championship concludes on Wednesday.
