Sharks take 2 on baseball diamond
The Hawaii Pacific University baseball team swept a pair of games over Academy of Art, 8-4 and 2-1 on Sunday at Hans L’Orange Park in Waipahu.
Ryan Torres-Torioka’s two-run double highlighted a five-run first inning for the Sharks in the opener. Tyler Tokunaga added two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs.
In Game 2, Sharks pitcher Jordan Deponte went 5 1/3 innings with six strikeouts and scattered five hits. With the game tied at 1 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, Steven Camberos reached on a fielder’s choice and would advance to second on a throwing error. On that throwing error, Tre’ Haliburton-Goeas scored the eventual winning run. The Sharks (27-20, 17-15 PacWest) ended the season on a seven-game winning streak.
