The body of a male swimmer was recovered Friday afternoon off Yokohama Bay, and lifeguards rescued his two companions, according to the city Emergency Services Department.
The man was with two friends when all three were reported in trouble just before 2 p.m., said Shayne Enright, spokeswoman for the department. The swimmer, a male in his 20s, was taken to the Waianae Boat Harbor where he was pronounced dead.
Emergency Medical Services responded and treated one man in his 20s for lacerations but he refused transport to the hospital. The third man also in his 20s suffered minor cuts but refused any treatment.
