A 21-year-old man was arrested Saturday for investigation of attempted murder after he stabbed another man during an argument in Kalihi, authorities said.

After the incident, the victim drove himself to Waialua, where he was treated by an Emergency Medical Services crew, police said.

The incident happened about 11:30 a.m.

Police said the suspect used a dangerous instrument to cause potentially life-threatening and serious injuries to the 27-year-old victim during a confrontation.

An Emergency Medical Services report said the victim had multiple stab wounds and had been struck by an object. He was treated at Kahaone Loop in Waialua and taken to a hospital in serious condition.

About 40 minutes after the assault, officers arrested the suspect at his home for investigation of second-degree attempted murder.
