A 21-year-old man was arrested Saturday for investigation of attempted murder after he stabbed another man during an argument in Kalihi, authorities said.
After the incident, the victim drove himself to Waialua, where he was treated by an Emergency Medical Services crew, police said.
The incident happened at about 11:30 a.m.
Police said the suspect used a dangerous instrument to cause potentially life-threatening and serious injuries to the 27-year-old victim during a confrontation.
An Emergency Medical Services report said the victim had multiple stab wounds and had been struck by an object. He was treated at Kahaone Loop in Waialua and taken in serious condition to a hospital.
About 40 minutes after the assault, officers arrested the suspect at his home for investigation of second-degree attempted murder.
Assailant puts victim in critical condition
Police are searching for a suspect in an early morning assault Sunday that left a man in critical condition in Kalihi.
Police said an unknown male struck a 53-year-old man and fled the scene at about 4:20 a.m.
An Emergency Medical Services report said the victim sustained head injuries near Club Cleopatra at 1095 Dillingham Blvd. and was taken in critical condition to a hospital.
A second-degree attempted murder case was opened.
Kailua woman charged in abuse of kin
A 35-year-old Kailua woman was charged Saturday with assaulting her juvenile daughter and husband.
Allison Vande Kapelle was charged with abuse of a family or household member. Her bail was set at $25,000.
The incident happened at about 6:35 p.m. Friday in Kailua.
Police said Vande Kapelle attacked her 12-year-old daughter, then turned on her estranged 41-year-old husband when he tried to intervene.
Officers arrested Vande Kapelle at her home about an hour later.
Police said Vande Kapelle committed the abuse in the presence of her two other children, who are under the age of 14, boosting the offense from a misdemeanor to a Class C felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.
2 riders badly hurt in motorcycle crash
Two people were seriously injured in a motorcycle crash Sunday on Moanalua Freeway.
The incident happened at about 9:50 a.m. in the westbound lanes just before the Kaiser Medical Center offramp.
A 26-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were both transported in serious condition to a hospital.
Man injured during morning fall into canal
A 44-year-old man was seriously injured after falling 20 feet into a downtown canal Sunday.
The incident occurred shortly after 9 a.m. near the Keola Hoonanea senior care complex. The man was transported by Emergency Medical Services to a hospital.
