Obama to donors: More work to do, cites trade, free tuition
PORTLAND, Ore. >> President Barack Obama is previewing his two state stop to Democratic donors, highlighting his plans for expanded trade and for free community college.
Obama was in Portland, Oregon Thursday a day ahead of promoting his trade agenda at Nike headquarters. Later Friday, he was delivering a commencement address at a South Dakota two-year technical school where he was expected to highlight his proposal for free tuition.
Obama said that despite improvements in the economy, he still has more work to do.
Obama was speaking to about 300 contributors who paid up to $33,400.
Outside The Sentinel Hotel where he spoke, about 200 protesters chanted against Congress giving Obama trade negotiating authority that would pave the way for a large Trans-Pacific deal.
