Traffic cameras down after cable damaged by rail construction
Traffic cameras for roads in Aiea, Pearl City, Ewa, Kapolei and Kaneohe are down after a contractor working the rail project damaged a fiber optic line near Aloha Stadium.
Rail officials said in a news release Thursday that contractor Kiewit was conducting utility relocation work along Kamehameha Highway near Aloha Stadium shortly before midnight when the cable was damaged, temporarily affecting city traffic cameras.
Repairs are underway.
Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation and Kiewit apologized to drivers.
