Suspect turns himself in 6 hours after Kalihi bank robbery

Honolulu police didn’t have to go far to catch a Kalihi bank robbery suspect.

The 67-year-old man surrendered to police and told officers at the Kalihi police substation that he held up the Kalihi branch of First Hawaiian Bank Thursday afternoon.

Police said a man entered the bank at 2250 N. King St. at 3:45 p.m. and demanded money from a teller before fleeing.

The suspect, a Kalihi resident, turned himself in at the Kalihi police substation six hours later and was arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
