A crew completed repairs to the fiber optic cable feeding traffic cameras for roads in Aiea, Pearl City, Ewa, Kapolei and Kaneohe on Friday afternoon.

The cameras went down Thursday after a contractor working the rail project damaged a fiber optic line near Aloha Stadium.

Rail officials said in a news release Thursday that Kiewit was conducting utility relocation work along Kamehameha Highway near Aloha Stadium shortly before midnight when the cable was damaged, temporarily affecting city traffic cameras.

The traffic management center confirmed that service has been restored to all affected working cameras.

A few cameras that were not working before the fiber was cut have not yet been repaired.
