Four players are tied for the lead after the first day of the David Ishii Boys Golf Championships at Waikoloa on Thursday.
Baldwin’s Tyler Munetake, Spencer Dunaway of Kamehameha and Punahou pair Colin Laszlo and Andrew Chin all finished their first trip around the course in 70 shots.
Kengo Aoshima of ‘Iolani, Kailua’s Caleb Keohokapu and Kyosuke Hara of Moanalua are a stroke back with Kauai’s Jamie Amimito two shots behind.
The final round begins Friday at 7:30 a.m.
Aoshima and Keohokapu set the pace early with 33s on the front, and Justin Arkano of Baldwin was the best on the back with a 33 but his 40 on the front left him with a 73.
Six of the top seven golfers on the leaderboard won medals last year, with Chin leading the list with a seventh-place finish. Aoshima missed the tournament last year to play an event in Japan.
Punahou leads the team race by eight strokes over Moanalua. Baldwin is 11 back, followed by ‘Iolani 14 behind.
The Buffanblu have won the tournament the past two years.
