Oahu firefighters responded to two fires Thursday night, including a fire in a Halawa apartment that sent two girls and one woman to the hospital.
Paramedics transported a 45-year-old woman in critical condition to the hospital following the fire at the Puuwai Momi apartments near Aloha Stadium.
Two girls, ages 17 and 13, were hospitalized in stable condition, Emergency Medical Services reported.
Details of their injuries were not available.
Firefighters were called at about 11:48 p.m. to the fire in a second-floor apartment bedroom in Building 7 of the public-housing project. They brought the fire under control at 12:11 a.m.
Fire department investigators estimated there was $5,000 damage to the apartment. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Earlier, at 8:48 p.m., smoke was reported coming from a jewelry store on Iwilei Road in The Shops at Dole Cannery.
Fire crews forced their way into the building and discovered the smoke was coming from an overheating oven that is used to melt metal and that had been left running.
