Woman in penis injection case jailed amid talk of bribes
NEWARK, N.J. » A woman accused of causing a man’s death with an injection of silicone he hoped would enlarge his penis has been jailed after a judge ruled she was complicit in a scheme to bribe potential jurors.
NJ.com reports the ruling came Tuesday after the judge questioned prospective jurors in Kasia Rivera’s case.
Three of the prospective jurors said they had been approached by a man on Friday, and two said they were offered $5,000 bribes. At least one said the man offering the bribe claimed Rivera was his aunt.
Rivera lives in East Orange. She has denied involvement in any scheme. But the judge revoked her bail and ruled none of the three potential jurors could serve on the trial.
Rivera faces charges of reckless manslaughter and unauthorized practice of medicine. She has maintained her innocence.
