Pedestrian injured in apparent hit-and-run accident on Kalakaua Ave.

Honolulu police investigated an apparent hit-and-run accident on Kalakaua Avenue near Kapiolani Boulevard early Thursday morning.

Police are investigating an apparent hit and run accident after a pedestrian was hit while in a marked crosswalk early Thursday morning near the Hawaii Convention Center.

Traffic investigators said the man was crossing Kalakaua Avenue near Kapiolani Boulevard at 12:15 a.m. when he was hit by a car heading north on Kalakaua Avenue.

The pedestrian was taken in serious condition to the hospital, police said.

The car fled the scene, but was later located at a nearby business. 

No arrests have been made.

Police closed some lanes of Kalakaua Avenue near Kapiolani Boulevard while traffic investigators examined the scene of the accident.
