Prosecutors have charged a 33-year-old man with assaulting his roommate Sunday at their home in Ewa Beach.
Police initially arrested Michael Howard early Sunday morning on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder following a fight with a 52-year-old man at their residence on Komana Street.
But prosecutors charged Howard on Monday with second-degree assault. Bail was set at $30,000.
Police said an argument between the two men escalated when the suspect attacked the victim with a dangerous instrument.
Victim found in sea brought to hospital
A man was found unresponsive in about 6 feet of water off Waikiki Beach near the Kapahulu groin on Tuesday.
Emergency Medical Services personnel said cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed by Ocean Safety crews, and EMS transported the man, 39, in critical condition to a hospital. The incident was reported about 4:30 p.m.
No further information was available.
Suspect released in attack with car
Police released a 63-year-old Iwilei man pending further investigation after he allegedly drove a car into a Kalihi building early Monday morning.
The man narrowly
missed a 43-year-old man at 3:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of North King Street, police said.
The 43-year-old man was not injured.
Police arrested the 63-year-old man on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder but released him pending further investigation.
