Kalia Road opened after gas, water fixes; Water repairs slow Waipahu traffic
Board of Water Supply crews restored normal water service Wednesday night to two buildings in Waikiki and reopened Kalia Road by about 6 a.m. after repaving the roadway.
But another repair project closed mauka-bound lanes of Paiwa Street between Hina Street and the H-1 freeway Thursday morning.
Board of Water Supply crews continued repairing a valve on Paiwa Street near Hina Street. A special duty officer is helping contra-flow a makai-bound lane to help motorists trying to get to the freeway.
But motorists can expect slowdowns and are urged to find alternate routes.
The project was planned to be completed overnight to minimize traffic disruptions, but apparently took longer than expected.
Residents continue to have water service, but may experience lower-than-normal water pressure.
