The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there is no tsunami threat from an earthquake in the South Pacific Friday.
The earthquake, with an estimated magnitude of 6.8, struck at about 11:45 a.m. Hawaii time about 127 miles east-southeast of Kirakira in the Solomon Islands and about 552 miles northwest of Port-Vila, Vanuatu at a depth of about 5 miles, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
