Waianae’s Russell Doane will fight for the first time in 10 months in a UFC bantamweight bout against Jerrod Sanders at The Ultimate Fighter season 21 finale show on July 12 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Doane (14-4, 2-1 UFC) hasn’t fought since losing to Iuri Alcantara by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night in Brazil in September.
Sanders is 14-3 overall but 0-2 in the UFC.
The event will be held one day after UFC 189 in Las Vegas, headlined by the world featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor.
Waianae’s Max Holloway, who has won six fights in a row, is ranked fifth in the 145-pound division. Both Holloway and Doane train with Hawaii Elite MMA.
The TUF Finale event will close out the UFC’s 2015 International Fight Week, which includes the UFC Fan Expo on July 10-11 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center, and is headlined by a welterweight bout between Jake Ellenberger and Stephen Thompson.
Kailua’s Travis Browne, ranked No. 3 at heavyweight, fights Andrei Arlovski on the main card of Saturday’s UFC 187 event in Las Vegas on pay-per-view.
